Fees for Coaching at USFS
Tests, In-house Competitions,
Shows & Exhibitions
Charges typically depend on the length of time spent with the skater and are billed according to my regular lesson rate or less. Fees are usually $20 - $35, billed at a later date.
Fees for Competitions
or Tests with Travel
Fees typically range $35 - $75 per event, depending on my time spent. There will be a minimum fee of $25/skater or $15/event. Advanced (Qualifying) levels of competition generally involve fees of $50 - $75 per event. In addition, the expenses I incur (travel, meals, lodging) will be divided among all my students attending, and
will be added to the final bill, along with any additional out-of-town practice sessions charged at the regular lesson rate. Please remember that these events also take me away from other work/ income, requiring that I cancel lessons, arrange and sometimes pay for substitutes, pet-sitters, etc. Such circumstances may reflect higher fees. Everything, however, will be done to make these costs as reasonable as possible.
Cancellation Policy
If you must cancel a pre-scheduled lesson for any reason, I greatly appreciate advance notice. But should that be impossible, please contact me as soon as you can. If I don’t hear from you after a “no show,” you may be billed for the missed lesson. If I must cancel, I will do my best to notify you as soon as I know, and will try to reschedule and find another time if you desire.
Other Coaches
I support the concept of “team” coaching. Often numerous coaches are not necessary at entry levels of competition, however it becomes almost essential at more advanced stages. If I think another colleague’s expertise in areas such as off-ice strength and conditioning, artistic presentation, or special spin or jump technique becomes a needed supplement to my work, I may recommend this additional training resource. If you are interested in seeking time with other coaches for this purpose, please consult with me first, so I can help make the appropriate decisions, contacts, and arrangements. It is necessary to specify roles and responsibilities, and to have a cooperative effort amongst all parties for a joint effort to best benefit the skater. I also involve other coaches if I will be away for a period of time and having a substitute instructor is of interest to you.
